This weekend had me wondering what to do Sunday till I spotted the last match of the qualifying stages for the finals in Lausanne, as Alb took on the Zurich Valkyries.
Zurich had it all to prove and they came to play the reigning Champions Alba with grit and determination of a team wanting the win and defending like champions. However they played too much of the game in their own half. Yes they tackled as if their lives counted on it and they ran hard but in the wrong areas of the pitch mostly.
The Lineout was strong and they stole a few too but it wasn’t to be as Alba were just that bit stronger, commanding the scrum and at times forcing penalties. The future though is bright for the Valkyries and we might see them make it all the way next year if they keep on this path.
